Common Cost Questions
The fee will depend on the consultation type (new problem vs. a review appointment). There will be a small fraction of the consultation fee, approximately $80-190, that you will have to pay out-of-pocket. Please note that pensioners and patients with special circumstances may be bulk-billed.
For a limited number of health insurance companies (NIB + Latrobe), we cannot change a gap amount.
Hospital surgeries include a gap fee or no gap fee depending on your insurance company. Regardless of whether you have Medicare or not, quotes are required from the hospital for every surgical procedure, which we will direct to you.
For further information, please contact us directly.
Appointment wait times are based on the urgency of your case. All patients with cancer will be seen within the week, while non-urgent cases may experience a 1-2 weeks wait time before your appointment. If you are a private patient, you can choose the date of your surgery. Wait time for public surgical patients will depend on the urgency of your case as per the hospital wait-list policy.
For private patients, the fees (i.e., the out-of-pocket expense) will depend on the type of surgery and type of cover you have from your private insurer. This can be approximately $250-$850. We will provide you with full details of your surgical costs prior to your surgery.
